I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a heartwarming Mommy and Me photography session at Holland Farms in Milton, Florida. Surrounded by a beautiful field of sunflowers, Shelby and her three adorable children created the perfect setting for a family photography session filled with love, laughter, and connection.
Holland Farms' sunflower field was like a canvas painted in shades of gold and green. The towering sunflowers, open Florida sky, and beautiful natural light created a gorgeous backdrop for these Mommy and Me family photos.
Shelby stood among the flowers radiating love and joy as she interacted with her children. They laughed, played, hugged, and simply enjoyed being together. Those are the moments I love most as a family photographer. While posed portraits are important, it's often the little moments in between that tell a family's story best.
As the gentle breeze moved through the sunflowers, the peaceful atmosphere at Holland Farms made this session even more special. Photographing Shelby and her children surrounded by such a beautiful part of Northwest Florida was a wonderful reminder that family photography doesn't always have to happen at the beach.

Capturing the connection between a mother and her children
As a Navarre-area family photographer, I don't want every session to be about perfectly posed photographs. I want to capture connection—the snuggles, giggles, tiny hands, playful expressions, and all the little interactions between a mother and her children.
During Shelby's session, I wanted her and her children to feel relaxed and free to be themselves. That authenticity comes through in the photographs and allows their individual personalities and relationships to shine.
I also love how beautifully sunflower sessions reflect motherhood. Sunflowers naturally turn toward the light, just as children look to their mothers for love, comfort, encouragement, and guidance.
Shelby's children demonstrated that beautifully as they stayed close to her, reached for hugs, laughed together, and explored the flowers beneath the wide Florida sky. It was a beautiful reminder of how powerful and tender the relationship between a mother and her children can be.
